While never a great focus of the PS5, Sony Interactive Entertainment has made bold claims about the console’s backwards compatibility. Now, the company has released a list of games that will only be playable on the PS4. And it is a surprisingly short list of only 10 games.
And they all seem to be very obscure games at that, making them no big losses for prospective PS5 owners. Probably the best known among them is Hitman Go: Definitive Edition. And it’s not that huge a loss either. Besides improved graphics, there’s no difference between this and the mobile versions of the game. It seems a waste to play such a game on the PS5, and it’s one of the rare cases where the game is better suited for phones than a full on console.
That being said, if you’re into VR, then there’s a reason here to keep your PS4 around after you’ve gotten the PS5. It’s DWVR, and as the name may suggest, it’s a VR title. It’s worth mentioning at this point that the existing PSVR kit works with the upcoming console. SIE confirmed this when addressing the compatibility of the DualShock 4 controller with the next generation console.
Of the over 4000 games that the PS4 has, 10 is a surprisingly small number of games that will not work with the PS5. Of course, the same can’t be said about generations older than the PS4.
