Sony Interactive Entertainment is a little late this month in announcing its free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. But better late than never, and now we know that we’ll be getting Need for Speed: Payback and Vampyr.
The first game should need no introduction. First released back in 2017, Need for Speed: Payback was one of the better looking games of the series. But unfortunately, it was chock full of microtransactions and even the upgrade system was a mess of randomised lootbox rolls. Now that it’s free it’s probably the best time to pick the game up, provided you don’t start spending on its microtransactions.

Vampyr, on the other hand, is a much more straight forward action RPG experience. You play as Jonathan Reid, a doctor who is also a vampire. The story takes place in four fictional districts of London, during the era of the Spanish Flu. The premise is certainly more interesting, but whether or not the story execution is, well, your mileage may vary.
Both titles will be available for download between 6 October to 2 November. If you’ve not downloaded last month’s free PlayStation Plus games yet, now’s as good a time as any to do so.
