Malaysia’s integrated digital media group, iMedia has announced that it has acquired a controlling stake from the country’s leading Chinese language website Goody25 today. The acquisition come in as part of iMedia’s recent decision to join Bursa Malaysia after approval from regulators and stakeholders.
The stake acquisition altogether allows iMedia to reserve Goody25 and GoodyMY and be the exclusive sales representation partner for all brands under Goody Technologies Sdn Bhd. In addition to this, all technology assets of the company will now be fully integrated as part of iMedia’s property.
Goody25 was launched in 2015 and has since been the leading provider of the latest news on trending lifestyle, fashion, art, entertainment, travel, and food. Primarily focussing its contents in the Chinese language market, the social news media and content portal has become a popular brand among local and international visitors.
In addition to this, Goody25 was also placed in the Top 20 websites visited by netizens from Malaysia and was also one of the top-ranked Chinese language site based on ratings from Alexa. Goody25 also managed to record a whopping average of 10.8 million page views and 2.65 million users, this year alone. Similarly, GoodyMY, on the other hand, is an English language based news portal which was launched in 2019 and is currently expecting a visitor count of up to 500k by the end of 2020.
iMedia, as part of Rev Asia Berhad has also managed to equally secure over 10 million visitors across all of its websites, social platforms and influencer network. Under this partnership, iMedia has also managed to bag in popular brands such as OhMedia, Ittify, Newswav, Malaysia Gazette and Oriental Daily Online.
Ultimately, with its stake acquisition here, we hope to see a growing accolade in iMedia’s list of already impressive achievements.
