Resident Evil may be getting an animated series, as opposed to its long list of animated films. It’s called Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. And it will be on Netflix in 2021, as what is described as “a horror series with a sci-fi twist”. Which is about the simplest way one can describe the series anyway.
Not much is known about the series, besides that it features Resident Evil 2 protagonists Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Which is a good sign because, like the animated films, that means it will likely make more sense than the live action flicks.
Not much else is known about what the series will be about. There’s the new look for the two main characters, with Leon sporting a suit and Claire with a variation of her classic red jacket. It’s difficult to tell when in the official canon this series sits. But if one were to guess, it’s probably way after the events of RE2.
And that’s pretty much all we know about Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. Netflix did not provide a concrete release date either, beyond the aforementioned 2021. We can probably expect another trailer dropping before the series goes live, but beyond that, all we can do is wait.
