Amazon has entered the cloud gaming space with the announcement of Luna. And fortunately for it, Luna is a little bit different from the other big name cloud gaming service, Google Stadia.
For one, Amazon Luna doesn’t get you to buy games you already own to play using the service. Instead, users will have to subscribe to “channels” instead to access games that’s in each one. At the moment, the company is offering the Luna Plus channel, which has a fair variety of assorted games. Ubisoft will have its own upcoming channel on the service too, with some games being offered in their ultimate editions.
Alongside the service, Amazon also announced the Luna Controller. It’s pretty much the same as the Xbox One controller, with some slight changes to the non-essential buttons at the centre. That said, you don’t necessarily need it to use the cloud gaming service, as you can use the Xbox One controller or the DualShock 4, or even the good old mouse and keyboard combo.
Amazon Luna is currently still in early access. But of course, this service is only available in the US mainland. There’s no word on if it will be available outside of the US, let alone to us.
