Following the massive acquisition of ZeniMax Media by Microsoft, conspiracy theorists speculated that the latter will buy Sega as well. In response, Xbox says that it won’t be announcing any acquisitions. At least, not during the Tokyo Game Show.
The company said this in a very short tweet, which doesn’t really say much in the long run. While it means that Xbox will not be announcing any acquisitions this weekend, it doesn’t mean talks aren’t already happening behind the scenes either.
…and btw, there won’t be any new acquisition news at the show ⛔

As for TGS itself, there doesn’t seem to be much going on in that space either. There’s a short clip showing some gameplay for the NieR Replicant remake, but that was seemingly it. Beyond that, the show mostly showed trailers we’ve seen during the PlayStation 5 reveal. At least as far as the first day is concerned.
But back to Microsoft. It looks like any possibility of the company acquiring Sega, or any other company for that matter, will not be culminating this week. That would keep the conspiracy theory gears grinding for quite a while more. As is usually the case being running on fumes doesn’t stop that kind of machine from running full steam ahead.
