Samsung has officially launched the new Galaxy S20 Fan Edition (FE) during their ‘Galaxy Unpacked For Every Fan‘ livestream event. The phone is the second to bear the branding after the Galaxy Note FE in 2017, and the company mentioned that it will continue to produce Fan Editions of other phones in the near future.
The new Samsung Galaxy S20 FE sports a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED FHD display with a punch-hole camera cutout and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is also 5G-enabled thanks to the included Snapdragon 865 chipset, which is paired with 8GB RAM and an internal storage capacity of 256GB (expandable up to 1TB via microSD). Powering the phone is a 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging support via USB-C, 15W via wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless.
Photography-wise, the Galaxy S20 FE features a triple-lens camera consisting of a 12MP wide sensor, 12MP ultra-wide, as well as an 8MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom and 30x ‘super resolution zoom’. Housed in the top-centered cutout on its display is a 32MP selfie camera which is also capable of recording up to 4K videos.
Other than that; the phone features an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, supports NFC and Bluetooth 5.0, stereo speakers tuned by AKG with Dolby Atmos surround sound tech, and is rated IP68 for water-resistance. Like other current generation Samsung smartphones, the new S20 FE will run on the company’s One UI 2.5 system based on Android 10. Lastly, the phone will be available in six different ‘Haze Finish’ colours: Red, Navy, Orange, Lavender, Mint, and White.
The Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will arrive locally sometime in October, and is priced at RM3,399. Pre-orders for the device will go live on Samsung Malaysia’s website at 10am on 24 September, and will end on 8 October 2020. The company added that customers who pre-order the new smartphone on the aforementioned dates will also be eligible to receive exclusive gifts worth RM586 in total.
