We’ve seen the measurements of the actual PlayStation 5 console, and it’s a massive piece of tech. In fact, it’s likely the largest console to have ever entered the market. And it looks like its games are just as large as the console, as the Sony Interactive Entertainment reveals.
On its US site, SIE says that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a PS5 launch title, takes up at least 50GB of storage space. Its Ultimate Edition, which includes the remaster of the first game, comes in at 105GB at a minimum. That’s more than double the space taken up by the standard edition. Then there’s the Demon’s Souls remake, which comes in at a fitting 66GB.
To be fair, plenty of PlayStation 4 games are already taking up as much storage space as these PS5 titles, if not more. This is especially the case with the Call of Duty franchise, with the latest entry, Modern Warfare, hitting 200GB. Larger scale games like Red Dead Redemption 2 also often breach the 100GB mark, with the aforementioned Rockstar title hitting 105GB.
But on the flip side, storage space is precious, especially on a console that will have just over 800GB of space. Hopefully not all games on the PlayStation 5 will take up so much space, with smaller scale games will still be taking up only small amounts of space befitting their content.
