Sony earlier today has revealed the global release date and general pricing for its upcoming game console, the PlayStation 5. Just like Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, both the standard PS5 and the disc-less PS5 Digital Edition will be heading into the market this coming November.
Specifically, the first wave market which includes the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea will receive these new consoles on 12 November. They will then head on to other markets starting from 19 November.
As for pricing, here is how it looks like:
PlayStation 5: USD 499.99 (~RM 2066) / EU 499.99 (~RM 2441) / GBP 449.99 (~RM 2411) / JPY 49,980 (~RM 1967)
PlayStation 5 Digital Edition: USD 399.99 (~RM 1653) / EU 399.99 (~RM 1952) / GBP 359.99 (~RM 1929) / JPY 39,980 (~RM 1573)
Sony has also revealed the pricing for the first-party PS5 accessories that will be released alongside the new consoles:
DualSense Wireless Controller: USD 69.99 (~RM 290) / JPY 6,980 (~RM 275) / EU 69.99 (~RM 342)
PULSE 3D wireless headset: USD 99.99 (~RM 414) / JPY 9,980 (~RM 393) / EU 99.99 (~RM 488)
HD Camera: USD 59.99 (~RM 248) / JPY 5,980 (~RM 236) / EU 59.99 (~RM 293)
Media Remote: USD 29.99 (~ RM 124) / JPY 2,980 (~RM 118) / EU 29.99 (~RM 147)
DualSense Charging Station: USD 29.99 (~ RM 124) / JPY 2,980 (~RM 118) / EU 29.99 (~RM 147)
When it comes to games, Sony stated that titles from PlayStation Studios will be available within the price range of USD 49.99 (~RM 207) to USD 69.99 (~RM 290). At this moment though, Sony has yet to reveal the exact pricing and release date for Malaysia though.
In general, just to be on the safe side, it seems that you may want to set aside around RM 1.7k to RM 2.2k if you want to get your hands on the PS5 consoles once they arrive in Malaysia. We will keep you posted once we hear more from PlayStation Asia, so stay tuned.
