Earlier this month, leaks of the upcoming GoPro Hero 9 Black suggested that it will have a colour display in front. It looks like we won’t have to wait long to see if that’s really the case. The company has tweeted a short teaser, which also came with the launch date of the upcoming action cam.
The teaser itself is on Twitter, which starts off by saying “More Resolution”. It then goes on to say “More Everything”, without context, before displaying a date of 16 September 2020. The tweet itself lacks any other information on the GoPro Hero 9 Black.

That being said, additional leaks prior, which corroborate the colour display, have made their way online. This include marketing materials, which did shed some light on the action cam’s spec sheet. Some items here include a 20MP resolution, the ability to shoot in 5K 30fps, 4K 60fps, and 1080p 240fps.
The leak also indicated that the GoPro Hero 9 Black also comes with a 1720mAh battery. There’s also software improvements like HyperSmooth 3.0 image stabilisation for “gimbal-like” footage. Other improvements include video bitrate, HDR, and the ability to shoot RAW photos. These should all mean a slightly higher price point, but we’ll have to wait and see if that’s really the case.
