The GoPro Hero line of action cams have screens in front, but they’ve mostly been used as a notification and status screen. With the GoPro Hero 9 Black though, you may be able to see what you’re recording in real time. This is because the upcoming action cam may be coming with a full-colour display in front.
Leaked renders obtained by WinFuture suggests that the GoPro Hero 9 will come with full-colour displays both in front at at the back. The size of the front display looks to be the same as the current monochrome versions. In addition to being able to see what the camera sees, this display should still be able to do what it did before.
The change to making the monochrome display in front into a colour screen may have something to do with the rise of vlogging. After all, just last month GoPro released firmware updates that allowed some of the more recent models to act as a webcam. And it was only a few days ago that it introduced its own premium live streaming service.
Beyond the full-colour display in front though, it looks like there won’t be many other changes with the GoPro Hero 9 Black. Though we’ll only be sure once the company makes an official announcement. Judging from the current generation GoPro Hero 8 Black, we may have to wait until October before we get official word.
