For some Samsung users out there, the Samsung Cloud Drive service for My Files app may have been of great assistance in providing an extra room for storing data and files. However, the service will be discontinued next year though and it will be replaced by Microsoft OneDrive.
The termination of the service will happen in two separate stages under Group 1 and Group 2. Malaysia falls under the Group 2 category of which the aforementioned services will end on 31 August 2021 while termination for other regions under Group 1 will take place on 30 June 2021.
For users that signed up for additional storage plan, it will be automatically cancelled on 1 June 2021 although those who signed up for the plan in Group 1 regions, it will then be terminated on 1 April 2021 instead. Naturally, a refund will be issued by Samsung once the termination takes place.
As for the files in Samsung Cloud Drive themselves, users can choose to have them transferred to OneDrive or download them to their own physical storage drive. However, more information regarding these migration methods will only be revealed by Samsung on 5 October 2020.
