First announced to the world back in February, Sony is finally bringing in the Xperia 1 II (pronounced as Xperia One Mark Two) to Malaysia later this year. This is the second Malaysian-related Xperia announcement from the company within this month after the Xperia 10 II which has just made its way into our market.
Unlike its lower-end sibling though, it is going to be a while more before you can have your hands on the Xperia 1 II in Malaysia though. According to Sony, the phone will only be available in our market sometime in November.
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, the Xperia 1 II is Sony’s first-ever 5G phone. It also comes with a 6.5-inch 4K OLED screen that has 21:9 aspect ratio and is being named the CinemaWide display by the company.
The IP65/68-certified phone also comes with a triple camera setup on its back which is inclusive of a 24mm f/1.7 main camera, 16mm f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, and 70mm f/2.4 telephoto camera. The module also contains a 3D iToF camera which is meant to boost the autofocus capability of Xperia 1 II’s cameras.
Each of these cameras which utilise ZEISS lenses and ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating relies on a 12MP sensor. On the front-side of the phone, there is also an 8MP selfie camera.
Alongside 4000mAh battery, the Malaysian variant apparently comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage. However, Sony didn’t reveal the local pricing for the phone in its announcement today although you can already be able to register your interest through Sony’s official website.
Nevertheless, we will keep you posted once Sony is willing to reveal more information about the release of Xperia 1 II in Malaysia. So, stay tuned.
