If you were experiencing some difficulties in browsing the Internet as well as making or receiving calls for the past few hours through Celcom‘s network, then you might have been affected by the network disruption that was faced by the telco earlier today.
While the reason behind the disruption was not revealed to the public, Celcom has acknowledged the incident through its Facebook page and Twitter handle at 3:14 PM. However, our quick search showed the disruption may have taken place sometime after 2:00 PM.
The issue seems to be quite severe as Celcom’s name immediately become one of the trending topics on Twitter for Malaysia and the mobile network company is still on the trending list at the time this article was published:
In its initial statement, Celcom stated that it expects that the disruption would be resolved by 5:00 PM but at 4:15 PM, the telco stated that its network has been fully restored. Hence, you might want to restart your device if you are using Celcom’s network.
Update: The issue was resolved and fully recovered at 3.30pm today. Affected customers are advised to restart their devices. We thank you for your patience.

Just like previous incidents, the network disruption has also affected Tune Talk which utilises Celcom’s infrastructure. Surprisingly, Yodoo which is Celcom’s own digital mobile service didn’t release any statement, although according to one of our team member who subscribes to Yodoo, his network coverage completely disappeared during the network disruption period.
We have reached out to Celcom’s representative in order to have more information regarding the disruption. However, based on our past experiences with the telco industry in general, telco companies find it hard to fully clear the air when it comes to network disruption.
Nevertheless, we’ll keep you posted should there be any updates from the telco.
