Being socially active on Instagram, most users would have already been familiar with the previously launched Nametag feature that was present in the Instagram app. Now, Instagram has replaced the aforementioned with a similar feature that enables users to scan a QR code from any third-party camera apps.
While the new QR code feature is available for everyone, it was apparently designed mainly for businesses. Through this feature, business owners will be able to print their own QR codes for potential customers to scan them and be directed to their official Instagram profile. Additionally, by scanning these codes, users will be able to know more about the business as a whole too.
In order to find the new feature, users can do so by locating it from the settings menu on their Instagram profile and tap the QR Code button found within the same list. It is also worth noting that the Nametag will still be present, however upon tapping, the QR code feature will be displayed to all Instagram users.
With Instagram previously only allowing Nametag to be scanned with the use of its dedicated camera in the app, the company has now allowed the QR code to be scanned by using any camera apps outside its own platform. Still, this is an update that looks to bring better convenience to all Instagram users.
