With the current pandemic at hand, government bodies are working tirelessly to keep the COVID-19 transmission contained. Malaysians are required to download the MySejahtera app to help the government monitor the spread of this deadly virus.
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group has announced that they are currently working on enabling Exposure Notification System (ENS) on wearable devices. Currently, this system is only made available for smartphones. However, within the next few months, wearable devices such as wristbands and smartwatches will also be able to have this system installed in them.
The ENS is a system that works together with Bluetooth technology to help notify people should they have been in close contact with potential COVID-19 carriers.
In an effort to work on this new initiative, the Bluetooth SIG team said that more than 130 Bluetooth member companies have already formed an alliance with the Bluetooth SIG Exposure Notification Working Group (ENWG).
We believe that by having COVID-19 tracking capabilities installed on more smart devices, both government bodies and the public would be able to keep themselves informed on potential carriers of the virus.
