ASUS has revealed that it will launch its latest flagship series, the Zenfone 7, next week on 26 August. The launch event will be held in Taiwan and live streamed via the company’s official YouTube channel at 2pm local time on the aforementioned date.
However, the design and specifications of the ASUS Zenfone 7 have yet to be unveiled by the company. Given that its predecessor – the Zenfone 6 – featured an all-screen display with a flip-out camera setup that functions as both rear and front-facing shooters, perhaps we may be expecting something similar in the new device.
Or something new entirely. In the thumbnail of stream’s countdown on ASUS’ Youtube channel suggests a design element that looks suspiciously like a quad-camera setup. But then again, it could just be a coincidence altogether.
If so, the possibility of mounting a quad-camera setup on a flip-up module would be unlikely, but an impressive achievement if the company manages to pull it off. Else, it is also possible for the company to go for a camera cutout approach to maintain a high screen-to-body ratio, or even a top bezel mounted selfie camera like its ASUS ROG Phone 3 cousin.
Specs-wise, GSMArena believes that the ASUS Zenfone 7 will be introduced in a regular and Pro variant, like most smartphone series in the market. The site mentioned that a previously discovered listing of a ‘Zenfone ZF’ smartphone series was discovered in Geekbench, which revealed one variant sporting a Snapdragon 865 chipset, while another featured a Snapdragon 865 Plus. This is unconfirmed to actually be the Zenfone 7 series, but it is worth noting to say the least.
Regardless, we’ll soon find out more on what ASUS has to offer in their latest flagship smartphone series when it launches next week.
