Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will be introducing a new online ticketing system for its services starting 17 August 2020. The announcement was made earlier today during the KTM Komuter and Electric Train Service (ETS) Anniversary celebration at KL Sentral.
“We realise our previous problem of high traffic due to too many online users at any one time,” said KTMB CEO Datuk Kamarulzaman Zainal. “As such, we want to avoid the problem by using ‘cloud’ technology, to ease buying of tickets at the counters or via online at home.”
The rail operator hopes that this new approach, known as KTMB Integrated Ticketing System (KITS), will be more efficient and secure for passengers and will also reduce congestion at station counters. KITS will commence on 17 August for KTM Komuter and ETS Intercity services, and would later be available for KTM Komuter Utara on 15 October 2020.
To purchase tickets via KITS, passengers are first required to register with the service from 10 August onwards and obtain a Passenger Name Record (PNR) number. You can register for the new online ticketing service by visiting the rail operator’s official website via this link.
