With the specs of both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X out in the open, it’s clear than the former is a little behind in the performance department. That is, if you boil things down to just teraflop numbers. But a tipster suggests that not only is the performance gap much larger, but also that the PS5 will be the more expensive console.
AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, has made claims on both ResetEra and Twitter to that effect. On Twitter, they’ve also claimed that Resident Evil 8 will only be running at 1080p 60fps on the PS5. They would later clarify that, on launch, the game would run at upscaled 4K on the PS5, but true 4K on the Xbox Series X, both at 60fps. And finally, they’ve also claimed that multi-platform games often perform worse on the PS5.
(3/3) running at true 4k 60 fps, my prediction is it'll run at an upscaled resolution at 60fps for 4k on PS5 & true 60 fps 4k on Xbox X, but that's an educated guess, not me knowing as the game is very much still in dev.

Those are all interesting claims, for sure. This is especially when you put the RE8 performance claims and the spec sheet of both consoles together. When you compare both spec sheets, the PS5 is behind in the teraflop count department by about 15% or so. But it’s interesting to see that 15% being the difference between a console running RE8 in true 4K or upscaled 4K.
On pricing, there’s nothing that’s already out in the open that we can look to, beyond Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan’s statement on value for the PS5. But if this insider information ends up being accurate, this suggests that SIE is banking very hard on content exclusivity, be it full games or DLC, to counteract the higher price. But we’ll only know for sure once both consoles are actually out in the market.
