As previously indicated by the chief of its mobile division Dr TM Roh, Samsung has just unveiled five new devices during tonight’s Galaxy Unpacked virtual launch event. So far, we have touched on the Galaxy Note20 series, Galaxy Buds Live, Galaxy Watch 3, and Galaxy Tab S7/S7+ which means there is one more device left in the list: the Galaxy Z Fold2.
Samsung claimed that the new Galaxy Z Fold2 is based on the feedback that it has received from users after spearheading the foldable market through the original Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip. For starters, the new model now offers a larger 6.2-inch front display while the size of the main Dynamic AMOLED display has also been increased to 7.6-inch alongside a refresh rate of 120Hz.
The company has also brought over the Flex Mode from Galaxy Z Flip to the new Galaxy Z Fold2 which allows the new foldable devices to be positioned at multiple angles. In addition to that, Samsung has also implemented Sweeper Technology into the hinge of the new device to help keep it clean from dust.
Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+, Samsung is keeping a lot of information regarding Galaxy Z Fold2 as a secret for the time being and promises to share more at a separate event on 1 September. However, since the device has appeared on Samsung Malaysia’s website, we are confident enough that the Galaxy Z Fold2 will be making its way into our market.
So, it is just a matter of when and how much the price tag is going to be. Given that the original Galaxy Fold was priced at RM 8388 in Malaysia, you might want to start saving now if you are interested in getting the new Galaxy Z Fold2 on your hands.
