Pos Malaysia has announced once again that it is suspending international mail and parcel services. Starting tomorrow, 3 August, the company will be suspending its services of mailing anything outside of the country, with the exception of Singapore. If you’ve sent anything for posting prior to this, the company will still deliver them accordingly.
For its reason, the company cites the service impacts related to COVID-19 as the reason for the service suspensions. This includes “varying levels of restrictions across destination countries on flights, airport closures and cross border services”.
The company made the announcement on Facebook. In another post on its social media, the company is offering an alternative if you need to send something overseas. This is AsiaXpress, which also happens to be a subsidiary of Pos Malaysia.
This isn’t the first time this has happened. Pos Malaysia made a similar announcement back in March, when we were still in the early phase of the Movement Control Order (MCO). Like the last time, the company will be providing periodical updates to the availability of its services.
If you’re thinking this is a little bit confusing, you’re not alone. It’s undeniably odd that Pos Malaysia is suspending its services, but its subsidiary is not. At any rate, if you are in need for international posting services, at least there is an alternative available.
