“Close enough” is probably the best expression to use when you’re within grasps of something usually unobtainable, but would settle for the next best thing instead.
In this case is a Lamborghini supercar – specifically, an Aventador SVJ Roadster. However, the closest thing to it that I could have a hands-on experience with is an OPPO Find X2 Lamborghini Edition that was generously provided by the smartphone brand.
So why a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster, you ask? According to the company, the limited edition’s exterior case is based on the Italian supercar – as seen with the familiar Lambo-styled bonnet design on the phone’s back. Also not forgetting the glossy carbon fibre-themed black colour on the body, with a gold accent surrounding the X2 Pro’s camera island. A Lamborghini emblem is also etched on its back to complete the luxurious supercar look.
Of course, the whole theme is not limited to just the phone’s shell. The limited edition Find X2 Pro also features a custom Lamborghini-inspired version of OPPO’s Color OS 7.1, which includes its own unique app icons which uses the same black and gold palette as its primary colours. Basically, it’s just a fancy reskin of the original UI that you won’t be finding in any other non-Lambo themed OPPO smartphones.
The OPPO Find X2 Pro Lamborghini Edition won’t be able to hit zero to hundred km/h in mere seconds, or turn tight corners with incredible steering and handling. But it does perform exceptionally well when it comes to running applications or games, as well as multitasking thanks to the onboard Snapdragon 865 chipset – much like the regular version of the Find X2 Pro that was released back in March this year.
In fact, it is actually the same device but with a more sportier aesthetic. Similarities include the display type and size, button layout, camera setup, and even memory and battery capacities. Experience-wise, the phone is no different compared to the vanilla OPPO Find X2 Pro, which is not a complaint whatsoever. What I really liked about the original is how comfortable and light it feels in my hand, and this applies to the Lambo version as well.
However, the OPPO Find X2 Pro Lamborghini Edition won’t cost the same as the standard edition, but instead retails at a whopping CNY12,999 (~RM7,928) – at least in China. Despite currently being showcased at the OPPO Flagship Store in The Gardens Mall, the phone is actually not sold in Malaysia.
Speaking of which, the Lamborghini edition will be on display for a limited time starting 20 July 2020. So do give the store a visit if you wish to see and experience the device for yourself. Also, if you happen own any OPPO Find X Series phone yourself, you could even try your luck on securing a seat for an even more intimate experience session with the device.
