There aren’t that many dual screen laptops like the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo in the market right now. But it looks like Google is giving the Chromebook a stab at the design, according to recent reports.
The project is known internally as Palkia. It is said to have two touchscreens and a touchpad. But the fact that it has a touchpad suggests that it will also have a physical keyboard. In turn, this means that the second screen will be a small one, sandwiched between the main screen and the keyboard. This is much like the aforementioned Asus Zenbook Pro Duo.
That being said, it remains to be seen if Google will not go for two screens of equal size, like the Microsoft Surface Neo. And chances are we’ll never know for sure. According to HotHardware, Palkia is a proof of concept project, which means it won’t be making its way to shelves.
That being said, there’s a chance that other companies may make a Chromebook you can buy based on Palkia. In a way, this reminds me of the Intel Twin Rivers, which we saw during Computex 2019. It may or may not be Microsoft’s source of inspiration, but one can’t help but see the similarities between it and the Surface Neo.
