Prasarana Malaysia Berhad has revealed that it will add 27 new four-coach Bombardier Innovia Metro 300 trains to its Kelana Jaya LRT Line. The company stated that the new trains will be rolled out in stages until 2023, with the aim of reducing passenger wait times from three to two minutes.
Group chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said that the new trains are equipped with a new Digital Route Map Display system and a better door system. Concurrently, he added that the LRT line’s Train Management System has also been improved to ensure train frequency is at an optimum level.
Earlier today, the chairman also oversaw the final stages of installing two new trains at Hartasuma Sdn Bhd headquarters at Pulau Indah. The new units are scheduled to be delivered to the Kelana Jaya LRT depot by the end of the year.
Additionally, Tajuddin revealed that the trains currently in service on the Kelana Jaya LRT line include 35 four-coach Bombardier 818 series, 20 two-coach Bombardier 414 series, and 14 four-coach Bombardier Innovia Metro 300s. The latter were introduced in the line’s fleet of trains back in 2017.
