Whether you’re a gamer playing single-player or multiplayer in a competitive mode online, it’s very unlikely that you and your friends do not use Discord to communicate with each other. Now, in an effort to keep with the times, the messaging and voice-chat app will be undergoing a “rebranding”.
To be fair, the app’s co-founders, Jason Citron and Stanislav Vishnevskiy, had said that the changes to Discord is less of a rebranding and more of an effort to streamline the company’s image. Specifically, the brand is launching a new website, as well as a brand new tagline: Your place to talk.
Discord first came on to the scene in 2015. Originally created to connect gamers and enable them to bond over game-related topics, the popularity of the app’s VoIP technology exploded exponentially and now boasts more than 100 million monthly active users. As time went by, many Discord soon found its application to be just as useful outside of the gaming culture, thus becoming a communications platform for others within the education and business sector too.
