Tencent announced several new self-developed and licensed games during its Tencent Games Annual Conference held earlier today. Among those unveiled is a new Metal Slug mobile game developed by TiMi Studios, and a new open-world first person shooter (FPS) called SYN for both PC and consoles.
The new Metal Slug Code: J mobile game comes as a partnership between Tencent’s TiMi Studios and SNK Corporation. The company promises that the game will offer a faithful rendition of the classic arcade shooter packaged in a mobile format for players to enjoy. For those unfamiliar, TiMi Studios is also responsible for developing Call of Duty: Mobile, as well as multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game Arena of Valor.
Tencent also revealed a tech demo of SYN, its brand new open-world FPS for PC and consoles during the conference. The game is developed by the company’s own Lightspeed and Quantum Studios and will also feature graphics technology from Epic Games. Based on what was showcased in the demo, the game is set in a cyberpunk style world and will allow players to choose between three rivaling factions.

SYN will also provide players the ability to customise their characters, companions and even vehicles to fit their personal styles. Although marketed as a FPS, it appears that the game can also be played in third person perspective – as demonstrated by the video.
Aside from the gameplay reveals, Tencent did not announce when we would be expecting the games to be released on their respective platforms.
