Reports of Facebook testing Dark Mode on its mobile app surfaced earlier in the month. Now, the company has confirmed that it is indeed testing the mode. The catch for now is that the feature is only available to a small number of users.
The social media company confirmed this with SocialMediaToday. Facebook says that it is testing the feature on “a small percentage of users globally right now. The silver lining here is probably that the test is a global one rather than focused on a specific market.

The Facebook mobile app is in sort of a strange position right now. After all, it is the only app in the company’s umbrella, which includes WhatsApp and Instagram, to not have Dark Mode. It is also worth noting that the mode is available on the social media’s desktop app, which makes the mobile situation all the more weird.
It may have taken awhile for Facebook to get Dark Mode on its mobile app. But if anything, this test is about as sure a sign as any that it’s happening soon. Though as for when exactly this feature will get a general rollout, it’s probably better to not hold your breath for it.
