LG has revealed two new Tone Free true wireless earbuds, the HBS-FN6 and the HBS-FN4. The two of them are largely similar, but the former has a pretty interesting feature to it. It’s what the company calls the UVnano self-cleaning technology.
In reality, it does sound a little more impressive than it actually is. The case of the LG Tone Free HBS-FN6 comes with a case that has ultraviolet light emitters built into it. And it’s this that does the cleaning, which the company says gets rid of 99.9% of E. coli and S. aureus bacteria.
As for the earbuds themselves, both the Tone Free HBS-FN6 and HBS-FN4 come with a battery life of up to six hours. The cases give the buds an additional 12 hours of play time. They connect using Bluetooth 5.0, and uses SBA and AAC codecs. As a pretty nice bonus, these earbuds also come with an IPX4 rating, which gives them a limited degree of water resistance.
For something that we put in our ears, it’s nice that there are true wireless earbuds that get cleaned whenever they go into their case. LG says the Tone Free HBS-FN6 and HBS-FN4 will be available in Europe and the US in July, but did not disclose a price for them. No word either if they will make their way to our shores.
