During the gaming segment of next@Acer Taipei 2020 live stream last night, Acer showed off an energy drink called Predator Shot just before it introduced the Predator x OSIM Massage Gaming Chair. Now, some might think of it as a light-hearted gag to complement the segment given the common association between gamers and energy drink.
As it turns out, Predator Shot is indeed a real product. In other words, Acer has expanded its business to include energy drink which is rather bizarre.
Doing a media session with the President of Pan Asia Pacific for Acer, Andrew Hou earlier today, he stated that the idea originated from the company’s EMEA region and was also inspired by the company’s experience working with energy drink companies during various esports event that Acer organized as well as sponsored throughout the world over the years.
Andrew further revealed that it was not just a random endeavour as the company did a study and learned about the potential of energy drink business. He added that since the company’s Predator gaming brand and events are already quite established within the industry, Acer feels that it might be worth a shot.

There is not much information available about the drink itself at the moment although it was mentioned during last night’s webstream that Predator Shot contained plenty of vitamin and minerals including vitamin B and lutein. Andrew stated that the drink will be released in Taiwan first before making its way to Poland next although no exact timeline was mentioned during the media session.
That being said, Andrew did point out that the company is currently looking for opportunities to help introduce Predator Shot to the masses and naturally, Predator gaming events will be part of it. While Acer is not the first tech company to venture into this business (still remember Razer Respawn?), it is still going to take a while to get used to seeing Acer as an energy drink company.
