ASUS, in a partnership with Tencent, has announced that it will launch the ROG Phone 3 in China on 7 July 2020. The announcement was made via the company’s official Weibo account earlier today, thus officially confirming the phone’s existence after several leaks were uploaded online weeks prior.
However, the company did not provide any further details regarding the new gaming smartphone apart from revealing its release date. In a separate Weibo announcement, Tencent stated that it will partner with ASUS ROG in China to provide optimised gaming performance on the ROG Phone 3’s hardware to create an immersive experience for the player. As with its predecessor that was released last year, a China-exclusive Tencent version is also expected to launch along with the other models of the ASUS gaming smartphone later in July.
Based on the leaks, the ASUS ROG Phone 3 may differ from last year’s model mostly in terms of hardware, but less so in its overall design – as seen in an alleged live video of the phone which we previously reported. The rumours also suggest that it will feature a 6.59-inch Full HD Plus AMOLED display and is powered by a 5,8000mAh battery.
The phone’s specifications, possible variants and pricing will undoubtedly be revealed when it officially launches in China next month.
