Skate 3 the last entry into Electronic Arts’ take on skateboarding games, came out in 2010. A whole decade later, the publisher has finally announced that a sequel, Skate 4, is in the works.
The publisher shared a video on Twitter, featuring Skate’s Game Director Deran Chung and Creative Director Cuz Parry, to serve as the announcement. But to be clear, this is the company announcing that it has started making the game. Which explains why there was no footage of any kind about the game, gameplay or cinematic.

At the same time, it would mean that Skate 4 is still a long way away. Considering it has just started development, this means that the game will likely only be out in a couple of years. This likely means that the game will be a next-gen title. But it remains to be seen if it will also be released on current generation consoles.
It looks like skateboarding games are making a comeback. We have the upcoming Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 coming in September. Skate 4 will be a great game to move on to once we’re done with the remastered classic. Here’s hoping that it’s not too long a wait.
