Earlier during EA’s Play livestream, the publisher had a couple of announcements for Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends. Firstly, the game will be able to support cross-play a little later this year. Second, the game is also launching on the Nintendo Switch.
On a related note, the game will also be playable on Steam as one of the several titles being ported over from EA’s Origin digital distribution platform. Besides availability on the Switch, EA also gave fans a glimpse of the game’s fifth season content, particularly the Lost Treasures collection event.
The event includes an “Armed and Dangerous Evolved” limited time mode, plus a new Crypto Town takeover. The event is set to kick off 23 June.
Apex Legends first released in February 2019 and was launched at the peak of the battle royale craze without any prior announcement or marketing. The game draws both inspiration and some of its combat mechanics from Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall series, save for the wall-running mechanic.
