The last game revealed during the PlayStation 5 “Future of Gaming” event was Horizon Forbidden West. One thing that’s notably missing from that reveal, though, was its release date or window. This meant that it was unlikely that the game would be a launch title.
And now, the devs Guerrilla Games have confirmed that it will not be out this year. The PlayStation YouTube channel has a new video with game director Mathijs de Jonge talking about Horizon Forbidden West for about three minutes. But at the end, he made an important revelation. The game will be released next year, in 2021.
Of course, it’s a very wide time frame. If all goes well, we’ll get Horizon Forbidden West in the earlier half. but these days, it seems unlikely that everything goes as smoothly as planned. So chances are we’ll be seeing the game later in the year instead.
But all things considered, it’s not too bad. The games announced during the PS5 reveal event mostly had its release date pegged at 2021 anyway. At the very least, it’s not like Capcom’s Pragmata, which is still in development and scheduled for release in the faraway future of 2022.
