In his daily briefing today, the Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob has revealed that users need to download the MySejahtera app first before they can receive the free RM 50 e-wallet credit from ePENJANA program.
The ePENJANA program is one of the 40 initiatives worth in total of RM 35 billion that are grouped under the main PENJANA economic stimulus plan which was announced by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin last week. With 15 million Malaysians are expected to receive the free e-wallet credit, it will be made available to those that are aged above 18 years with an annual income of under RM 100,000.
Available from Google Play, Huawei AppGallery, iOS App Store, MySejahtera is one of three apps that were developed by the Malaysian government to help it manage the COVID-19 outbreak. It comes with several functions including a QR-based contact tracing platform, self-assessment health check and hotspot tracker alongside links to resources such as health screening facility and digital healthcare.
Despite the latest update from today’s briefing, the government has yet to announce the e-wallet partners for the ePENJANA program and there was no mention of the verification method for the MySejahtera requirement as well. So, expect to hear more updates regarding this matter from the authorities as we get closer to the distribution of the free RM 50 e-wallet credit this coming July.
