The Prime Minister Office has revealed that the PM Muhyiddin Yassin is now under quarantine for the next two weeks starting from this afternoon.
According to the statement from PMO, this move was taken as PM Muhyiddin was in a post-Cabinet meeting that attended by an officer that was tested positive for COVID-19. The meeting apparently took place on 20 May at the PMO complex in Putrajaya.
However, the statement from PMO also revealed that PM Muhyiddin has taken the COVID-19 test and the result came back negative. Meanwhile, all attendees of the meeting have since been instructed to take the COVID-19 test and self-quarantine themselves for the next 14 days.
The self-quarantine requirement is a standard procedure for COVID-19 cases through the provisions provided by the Prevention and Control of Infection Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
All in all, this is yet another reminder that our battle against COVID-19 is still far from over. Hence, please continue to practice good personal hygiene and social distancing as well as wear a face mask when you are out of your home.
