The upcoming launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 may have to be moved to the online realm. The event is usually part of the company’s biannual Unpacked event. It looks like the event may be joining other traditionally physical events due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The event is still expected to happen in August, but no exact date has been announced just yet. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 may not be the only phone unveiled. Also expected to officially revealed is the Galaxy Fold 2.
If this in indeed the case, then this will be the first time Samsung unveils a major flagship device online. Major entries into the company’s lineup, typically the Galaxy S and Note series, have always been revealed during the biannual Unpacked event, and to much fanfare.
Chances are the company will be emulating what plenty of other Chinese manufacturers have been doing these past few months. In other words, it’s probably safe to expect a livestream of sorts. After all, it’s hard to imagine Samsung announcing a flagship entry without much fanfare, or with just a press release like its by now countless Galaxy A entries.
At any rate, if this is indeed the case, then all there is to do is to wait for an official announcement by Samsung. Physical events are a no-go these days anyway, and will likely remain so for a few more months.
