Sony recently released a teaser image on Twitter, which features a silhouette of a new compact camera seemingly marketed towards vloggers. According to the tweet, the brand will launch the device on 26 May 2020.
The new camera is believed to be the Sony ZV-1, which had recently been leaked by Sony Alpha Rumours and Japanese leaker Nikoshita. Based on the information from both sources, the device will be based on Sony’s previous compact camera, the RX100 VII, with some key differences in terms of specifications and features.
The latter source recently uploaded several alleged product shots of the ZV-1 on their Twitter page, providing more angles of the camera and its accessories.
It is said that the ZV-1 will be equipped with a 20MP sensor with a 24-70mm f/1.8 – 2.8 lens, a 3-capsule microphone, and a vari-angle LCD display. The camera includes several features such as speedy real-time eye tracking autofocus and software-based “Soft Skin” visual enhancements. Additionally, it will also feature a 3.5mm jack for external microphones, as well as a detachable grip included in its packaging.
Whether the leaks are accurate or not remains to be seen until Sony officially launches the camera next week. Naturally, we’ll eventually find out the new device’s pricing and availability at that time as well.
