Instagram has introduced a new feature called Guides, which enables users to easily discover recommendations or advise from publishers, nonprofits and other organisations. This move is part of the brand’s aim to be a reliable source of information and inspiration, especially with the current situation at hand.
The image sharing platform explained that Guides will first focus on wellness by connecting creators to expert organisations for sharing resources and content, such as advice on maintaining one’s well-being and managing anxiety or grief. Content from these sources will combine photos, videos and text in a new longform, article-like posts on Instagram.
Guides is accessible by clicking on the “magazine” icon on the sections bar in a creator’s profile, and will also appear in a new “Wellness” section in the platform’s Explore tab in the coming days. Additionally, the brand added that Guides could be cross-posted to Instagram Stories as well.
At this time, the platform has listed the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and UK’s Heads Together, as part of the many creators and organisations participating in the new feature. However, Instagram did not disclose when Guides would eventually expand to other categories just yet, and said that it is still exploring future possibilities for now.
