Earlier today, the official Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram account for Microsoft Surface in Malaysia have published two new posts. These posts were rather brief with one featuring the newly announced Surface Book 3 while the other one talked about the equally new Surface Go 2.
While they seemed nothing out of the ordinary especially since Microsoft has just announced these new products but once you go through these social media accounts, you would notice that they do not feature Surface products that are not available in Malaysia.
Hence, these postings seem to hint that these Surface Book 3 and Surface Go 2 will be made available in our market soon. Then again, these products have gone through the certification process by SIRIM even before they were unveiled by Microsoft.
Registered by Ingram Micro and VSTECS Astar (previously known as ECS Astar) which are well-known local IT product distributor, the Surface Go 2 under the model name 1926 has appeared in the database back on 12 March.
Then on 16 April, another variant of Surface Go 2 appeared on the database as model name 1927 which is quite interesting because it is listed at an LTE device. As for Surface Book 3, both the 15-inch (model number 1899) and 13-inch (model number 1900) were approved by SRIIM on 24 April.
These model numbers are in line with what has been revealed before by filings on FCC and ENERGY STAR program. Given all these indicators, it seems almost certain that these new Surface devices are going to be launched in Malaysia very soon.
However, they have yet to appear on the official Malaysia website for Surface though. So, stay tuned for further updates as we will be reaching out to Microsoft Malaysia for clarifications.
