While ASUS may have launched a whole range of AMD Ryzen 4000 Mobile-powered laptops recently, that doesn’t mean the Taiwanese brand has forgotten about the desktop PC segment. In addition to the laptops, it also announced its new ROG Strix GA35 and GA15 tower PCs, both powered by AMD’s 3rd generation Ryzen CPUs.
Starting with the GA15, this desktop system is basically the entry-level model of the two, although it should be noted that it’s still packing some moderately decent hardware. Starting from the ground, the base model of the GA15 ships out with an air-cooled Ryzen 5 3600X CPU and B450 chipset motherboard.
These components are paired with 8GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Super. Storage is handled with a 256GB NVMe M.2 SSD and a 1TB 7200RPM HDD. All of which are powered by a 500W PSU.
There is, of course, a top-tier SKU of the GA15. That variant comes with a Ryzen 7 3800X CPU, 16GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM running in dual channel mode, double the NVMe M.2 SSD capacity, and a more potent GeForce RTX 2060 Super graphics card. Besides those changes, everything else remains the same.
But the ROG Strix GA35 is clearly the star of the show here. Sporting a significantly bigger casing, the desktop system also comes with considerably more potent hardware. You get a choice between a Ryzen 7 3800X and Ryzen 9 3900X; regardless of choice, both CPUs are cooled by a 240mm AiO cooler and fitted on to an X570 chipset motherboard. Other specs include 16GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM, up to a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, a 512GB NVMe M.2 SSD, a 2TB HDD and a 700W PSU.
Unlike the GA15, the GA35’s size also has some additional features. For a start, it’s got the ASUS Keystone II technology, along with a hidden Shadow Drive that automatically gives a user quick access to a user’s preset functions and app when plugged it. It also has a Hot Swap SSD bays, which are tastefully hidden behind the cover at the front of the casing.
For pricing, the ASUS ROG Strix GA15 starts from RM4299, while its top-tier SKU retails for RM7299. As for the GA35, it starts from RM9999, but the top-of-the-line variant with the Ryzen 9 3900X and RTX 2080 Ti will set you back RM14999. To sweeten the pot, ASUS will be bundling a ROG Strix Flare Keyboard with blue Cherry MX keys and ROG Gladius II mouse with every sale of the GA35 and the top-tier GA15.
Both desktop PC are already available for purchase.
