Publisher 2K Games has announced the upcoming release of Mafia: Trilogy with a short teaser video on their official YouTube channel. Apart from consisting of all three Mafia titles in the collection, it will also see the first two games completely remastered with current generation graphics.
The teaser itself didn’t reveal much on the collection, but does mention that it will be available on the PlayStation (PS) 4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam and Epic Game Store). Unfortunately, 2K Games did not say when it plans to release Mafia: Trilogy but notes that more details of the collection will be revealed on 19 May 2020.
The original Mafia game was released back in 2002 for the PS2, Xbox and PC, while its sequel came out in 2010 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Meanwhile, the third installment of the series was released in 2016 on current generation consoles and the PC platform.
From the teaser, we can briefly see that the first two Mafia games feature reworked graphics from the ground up. However, it’s not known for now if their gameplay mechanics will be modernised as well, or remain entirely unchanged.
