Sony Interactive Entertainment has decided to unite all of its first party studios under one name: PlayStation Studios. With the next generation, the console maker will introduce games made by its first party studios with this name.
There’s even a new intro reel for the new PlayStation Studios. It features the main characters of some of its first party games, like Uncharted, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ratchet & Clank, God of War and The Last of Us. Which does give off Marvel Cinematic Universe vibes, say the least.
Future games made by Naughty Dog, Insomnia, Guerilla Games and more will be introduced as being made by PlayStation Studios. But it remains to be seen if the individual developers will be highlighted.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, Sony says to think of this as a stamp of approval from the company. If you see the this logo on a game’s box or opening sequence, then you’ll know it’s a game you know you’ll get a certain level of quality out of.
As mentioned earlier, you’ll only start seeing this branding when the PS5 comes around. This means The Last of Us II and Ghost of Tsushima will not come with the PlayStation Studios branding.
