Microsoft today has announced several new Surface products including the Surface Book 3. The third generation of the most unique model in the Surface family still features the same industrial design as well as detachable form factor but it does feature new hardware.
The timing of Surface Book 3 is rather apt though as the Surface Book 2 received a hardware refresh in 2019. Nevertheless, the older model is not a match against its successor though as the new hardware on Surface Book 3 allows it to have 50% more performance than Surface Book 2.
Still available in two sizes including 13.5-inch and 15-inch, among the new hardware that Microsoft has included into the new Surface Book is the 10th Gen Intel Core processors. Specifically, the 13.5-inch carries Intel Core i5-1035G7 as standard while customers can choose to have the more powerful Intel Core i7-1065G7 which actually comes by default on the 15-inch variant.
Aside from that, the 13.5-inch model can be obtained with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q graphics and 4GB GDDR5 VRAM while the GeForce GTX 1660Ti Max-Q and 6GB GDDR6 VRAM come as standard on the 15-inch model. Commercial unit for the 15-inch Surface Book 3 can also be fitted with NVIDIA Quadro RTX 3000 graphics.
With storage options of up to 1TB (2TB for the United States), Microsoft claims that the 13.5-inch Surface Book 3 has a battery life of up to 15.5 hours while the 15-inch variant can go up to 17.5 hours. Of course, these battery life figures were measured with their keyboard base attached.
At the moment, no words on whether the new Surface Book 3 will be making its way to Malaysia or otherwise but it will be released in the United States on 21 May with a starting price of USD 1,599.99 (~RM 6,919).
