Last month, Senior Minister (Infrastructure), Fadillah Yusof has stated that only one family representative can go out to purchase groceries during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period. This was then made mandatory through the implementation of “one person per car” rule at the start of MCO Phase 2 on 1 April.
Today, as we begin MCO Phase 4 which will last until 12 May, the rule has been changed once again. Starting from today onwards, you are now allowed to bring another family member to go grocery shopping with you.
The amendment to this rule was made official through the Federal Government Gazette [pdf] that was published yesterday. However, the amendment also stated that the accompanying family member must stayed in the same house and the 10km radius restriction remained.
While Malaysia might be going into recovery phase and this amendment to the rule was likely caused by that, this does not mean we are out of harm’s way though. The fight against the pandemic is still far from over as there is still no vaccine for COVID-19.
So, do continue maintaining good hygiene and practice social distancing as well as wear face mask when you are in the public area. Not to forget, do stay home as much as possible until MCO is over.
