The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has introduced a new system to its portal that allows local students who are stranded in higher-education institution (IPT) campuses nationwide to apply for a request to be sent back to their homes. The students have been confined to their campuses for more than 40 days since the beginning of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in Malaysia.
IPT students are required to apply for the request by filling in the application form on the system, known as Sistem Maklumat Pergerakan Pulang Pelajar Pendidikan Tinggi (aka IPT Pulang). Aside from providing their personal information, they are also required to submit their current location and home address.
However, students are only allowed to return to areas declared by authorities as green zones. Those whose homes are located in red zones will only be given permission to return once the location is declared green in the near future. Alternatively, students who wish to temporarily reside at their nearest relative’s home instead must first obtain consent from a parent or guardian.
Additionally, those who wish to be picked up by their parent or guardian may also apply via the portal. However, only cars are allowed to be used to pick up students from their respective campuses. Motorcycles are not permitted at this time.
For students who wish to apply on IPT Pulang, please refer to this link. Applications must be made before 11:59pm Wednesday, 29 April 2020.
