In yet another special address, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin today has announced that the on-going Movement Control Order implementation will be extended further. Even though the data from Ministry of Health showed that there are already some improvements to situation in Malaysia, the government still believe that the preventive measures against COVID-19 must go on.
In his speech, PM Muhyiddin stated that the MCO will continue until 12 May. Since MCO begun on 18 March, the end date for MCO has been shifted three times with the previous end date being 28 April.
Despite that, PM Muhyiddin pointed out that there is a possibility of another extension for MCO. However, he did state that the government will consider easing up the restrictions that were implemented through MCO if there is a significant reduction in COVID-19 cases.
The National Security Council is already looking into this matter but naturally, we still have to wait and see the progress of COVID-19 infections in Malaysia. With that, do continue to stay home as much as possible and practice good hygiene as well as social distancing, so that we can quickly stop COVID-19 on its track and get back to our daily live without fearing for our health.
