One month after Movement Control Order (MCO) started, the government has once again allowed Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and telco to perform Internet installations at customer’s home. However, the installation work can only be done at locations that have been deemed as green zone according to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
Given the announcement, we have then reached out to several ISPs including TM to obtain some insights in response to the latest decision by the government. Despite being greenlight by authorities, the company stated that it still finalizing the details for Internet installations during MCO.
Aside from coming out with official protocols for its staff and contractors which the company will announce soon, TM also revealed that it still needs to wait for authorities to go through all the required documents and greenlight its operation.
While TM still accepts new registration from customers but for now, the company has also stated in its reply to us that it will be focusing on completing the Internet installations that were delayed when MCO kicked in last month.
So, with that, don’t expect that your Internet installations to take place immediately after you register for it despite the recent announcement by the government. Unless it is wireless Internet installations that don’t require ISPs or telcos staff to activate personally at your home.
