The OnePlus 8 Pro earlier last week and as good-looking and powerful as the device is, it’s also been lauded as one of the brand’s most expensive flagship device. While the phone is yet to hit the market officially, the good folks at JerryRigEverything had already received the phone and performed the deed of dissecting it.
From the start, Jerry makes it clear that removing the glass panel in the rear requires a certain level of finesse and understandably so. Exerting too much force in its removal could end badly, with the panel either cracking or snapping under the pressure.
Once removed, though, the cover makes way to reveal what is quite possibly the prettiest looking coil of copper wire. Nestled right one top of the OnePlus 8 Pro’s battery. This is the phone’s Warp Speed wireless charging coil, which allows it to be wirelessly charged at 30W via OnePlus’ proprietary Warp Charge 30 dock.
Another thing you’ll notice is the size of the OnePlus 8 Pro’s 48MP main camera. As Jerry points out, the module is about the same size as Samsung’s own 108MP main camera sensor that also costs almost US$500 more.
Of course, the important point that you can see from the teardown video is just how easy it is to pick apart the components when you’ve gained access. In Jerry’s case, it seems that the man barely broke a sweat dissecting the videos and explaining what each part of the phone does.
The OnePlus 8 Pro is slated to go on sale 29 April in the US. At the time of writing, there is still no word on local availability or pricing.
