Level51 lifted the veil from its Forge series gaming notebook recently. While they are predictably available in the usual flavours of Intel’s 10th gen CPUs and NVIDIA’s discrete GPU, what’s really surprising is that the manufacturer also has a version fitted with full-sized, 3rd gen AMD Ryzen desktop CPUs.
Officially known as the Forge 15R, the baseline model comes fitted with a 6-cores, 6-threads Ryzen 5 3500 CPU. Like all Level51 gaming notebooks though, you can bump it up either to a Ryzen 5 3600, Ryzen 7 3700X, Ryzen 7 3800X, Ryzen 9 3900X, or a Ryzen 9 3950X. All at a cost, naturally. On a side note, there is an option for customers to have premium-grade thermal compound slathered onto the CPU if they so choose.
The Forge 15R’s display is a simple 15.6-inch wide-angle, Full HD display with a 144Hz refresh rate. In regards to its GPU, Level51 says that the Forge 15R will come with a choice between an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or RTX 2070.
Moving on, additional specs include up to a 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe SSD, either a 1TB or 2TB WD HDD, up to 32GB (16GB x 2) dual-channel DDR4 RAM, an Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 antenna, and the brand’s “Tactile Hybrid” per-key RGB keyboard.
At the time of writing, the Level51 is only taking in preorders for the Forge 15R, with the first batch of orders expected to be shipped in early next month. Pricing for the notebook is listed at RM3899 for the base model, while the fully decked out version will set you back a dazzling RM11430, which includes a 3-year warranty.
