In a media briefing earlier today, Education Minister, Senator Dr. Mohd Radzi Md Jidin has discussed the current status of our education system as we go through the on-going Movement Control Order (MCO) has just entered phase 3 today. Not surprisingly, one of the first subject that he has talked about is regarding the current school session which has been halted since the start of MCO.
At this moment, schools will remain closed according to Dr. Radzi. He pointed out that schools will only be reopened once the government determined that we have really recovered from the current health situation.
When the time comes, Ministry of Education (MoE) will announce schools reopening date at least two weeks before it takes place. This is to avoid panic among students, parents, and guardians alike although Dr. Radzi stated that the current school calendar will remain as it is for the time being with the exceptions to the national-level and the equivalent international-grade exams.
Naturally, hygiene and safety as well as infection control methods including social distancing will be prioritized when schools reopened. MoE will also provide a post-MCO guideline as a reference for schools, parents, and guardians to ensure that students can continue learning in safe environment.
